Frogs and Salamanders of the Finger Lakes: Their Natural History, Ecology, and Local Conservation Efforts

FLCC Speaking of Nature Talk

Presented by John Bateman,

FLCC Environmental

Conservation Instructor

Monday, April 15 6:30-8:00pm

FLCC Muller Field Station

6455 County Road 36, Honeoye

Amphibians play a vital role in both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, but they are threatened by habitat loss, pollution, and disease. Currently, more than 40% of amphibians are threatened with extinction – greater than birds and mammals combined. In this talk, you’ll learn about the amphibians of the Finger Lakes region, what makes them vulnerable, and local monitoring and conservation efforts. The talk will be followed by a walk to the Muller Field Station wetlands for a “calling amphibian survey”.
